A manga you’ve likely never heard of: Zodiac PI

At some point in our lives, we all manage to find an obscure piece of media that we obsess over that no one else has heard of. For me, most obscure media I get into tend to be short-lived mangas with no other adaptation. Zodiac PI, by Natsuki Ando, is that series for me.  I have specific memories of checking this volume out from the school library and reading it in my room over the weekend. I love the early 2000s Shoujo art style this manga has, it’s expressive and cute. I'll admit that its not for everyone: I can understand why folks might not like the sharp chins and dot/checkmark noses paired with shiny eyes. The story itself is pretty simple; its about a girl named Lili Hoshizawa who can summon horoscopes to help her solve crimes happening in her area. I find the premise really appealing. It’s like Sailor Moon meets Detective Club. While it has some unsettling moments (murder and suicide in some chapters), it’s never depressing perse.  It’s a short-lived series becau...

April already?

It’s snowing out, so I decided to draw this to cheer myself up.

I have a Zazzle store

If anyone is interested, my  Frost Babies  store and  Deirdre’s Creations for all other office supplies . I figured I'd do a quick art dump since I'm on my lunch break.

5 Random Paleontology Facts I read on the internet

Lately, I’ve been watching a lot of  Casual Geographic  and I have a spark of inspiration for this post. One thing I want to make clear right off the bat is I’m neither a zoologist nor a paleontologist for that matter. There’s a pretty high chance that what I’ll post here will age horribly in a few years. #5: Smilodons have zero relationship to tigers For some reason, people still call them “saber tooth tigers” despite the lack of relationship. Yes, they’re both technically “cats”, but they’re in different families. Tigers are part of the panther family, and Smilodons are part of the extinct Machairodontinae group of Felids. #4: Chalicotheriums are distantly related to horses, rhinos and Tapirs When I learned that these gorilla rhinos were related to horses, I started to question everything.  #3: Triceratops was an underrated badass of the Cretaceous period How many other dinosaurs do you think gave Trex a bad day? There’s quite a bit of fossil evidence out there th...

She is the one called Bootleg Moon

The internet is full of bootleg products out there that are sold for super cheap. Cheap products are a double edged sword; on one hand, they won’t break the bank. On the other hand, your mileage may vary when it comes to the quality of the product. I got a sitting Sailor Venus figure and an Eternal Sailor Moon. I am 100% aware that I got what I paid for. I paid $20 in total for both of them, so I don’t feel like got ripped off. Now if I paid over $20 on each of them, I’d be mildly infuriated.  Wobbly staff aside, I can’t get over the weird yellow tinge on the wings. This could just be due to the less than stellar quality of the wings. The photo doesn’t show it all that well, but Minako’s hair has this light peachy-orange tinge to it. Once again, I chalk it up to lower quality materials being used. To be honest, I don’t mind her being a strawberry blonde. It kind of fits her overall design. Anyways, here’s my favorite figure set, which isn’t a bootleg but I wanted to show off anyway...
