Salutations!
I’m here because my Facebook account got suspended indefinitely, within minutes of me submitting an appeal. After some consideration, I’ve decided to treat this as a blessing in disguise. I was spending far too much time “doom scrolling” instead between doing house chores.
That’s my way of saying, “good riddance to Facebook.”
Luckily, I have a DeviantArt account to upload my artwork onto. Even if it’s a quiet platform, I’ll take the tranquil silence over dealing with people who feel the need to argue semantics with me.
“If I’m to have a social media presence, I’d rather do it on my own terms and quietly.” I tell myself as I browse various blogging platforms.
Perhaps someday, I’ll make a new Tumblr account for the purpose of reaching out to potential readers. That website’s atmosphere improved after the 2018 migration, which pushed out the worst members of the community.
However, I want to have my own little slice of the internet. Somewhere I can’t possibly go viral. At least, not within the foreseeable future.
Which brings me here.
I’ll admit that I miss having friends from high school be within reach, but we weren’t talking a whole lot anyway. Not there’s anything wrong with them, it’s just that life happens and we have taken different paths in life. They’re great people, we just didn’t talk a lot for understandable reasons.
But that is neither here nor there.
I picked this platform because it allows me to customize my own pages, which helps with personalization. I hate the lack of aesthetic from the main platforms, and the sleek corporate look from most websites.
I also chose going back to blogging like it’s 2006 for another reason: I now have to think before I post.
I have to come up with posts that are not only interesting, but intriguing for potential readers. The only time micro blogging is interesting is when people are acting absolutely unhinged these days… which isn’t good for longevity.
I think I may also create a Reddit account someday, if I’m feeling adventurous and need the advertising (doubtful).
With all of that said, I hope you all have an amazing day!
